John Vierra
August 12, 1929 - July 23, 2025
Manteca, California - John Vierra, a proud Manteca native and beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on August 12, 1929, in Manteca, John spent his entire life; 95 incredible years rooted in the community he loved.
John was the devoted husband of Eleanor, his cherished wife of 69 years and the love of his life. Together, they raised two daughters, Lisa Mothershed-Vierra and Shelley Simas, and built a legacy centered on family and hard work. He was the proud grandfather, of Andrew Mothershed (Nicole), Taylor Simas, and Blake Simas; and great-grandfather to John and Landon. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Vierra; and his sister, Dolores Gomes.
John honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was part of the MASH 8055 unit, where he worked as an X-ray technician. His service was a point of pride throughout his life, and he carried that same dedication and discipline into everything he did.
He began investing in real estate while still working at Pacific Telephone Company and never truly retired. After leaving the phone company in 1983, he continued building on the real estate business he had already started, dedicating 62 years to it. John especially enjoyed his almond ranch and his 100-year-old barn where his family and friends celebrated many holidays and happy occasions. He and Eleanor enjoyed traveling and visited many countries around the world. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden and working around his property.
John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the MRPS Hall, the FESM Hall and the Moose Lodge. His incredible work ethic was an inspiration to all.
Above all, he was a devoted family man, a loving father and a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
