We were not aware of John's death. I feel such sorrow that this lovely man is no longer among us. His husband Mel was my husband's first cousin once removed. Both he and John inspired my husband and I. We felt loved by both of them. John gifted our family a beautiful calligraphy of our names - Chris, Cheryl, and our children, Brian, Greg, and Jessica. He and Mel amazed us with their knowledge, courage, and humor. We came to admire and love them both. John felt every bit a part of our family as Mel. I cherish the memories of our times together. I'm glad John is now reunited with the love of his life.

John and Mel were two of the kindest, most beautiful human beings that I have ever met. I feel blessed to have known them and they will always have a special place in my heart

I worked with him at the Public Defender's office and found him to be consistently kind and caring. He and Mel were wonderful people. I moved away so I wasn't able to keep up with them. It makes me very sad that such good people are gone.

John was a beautiful human being inside and out. I loved him very much.
I was not informed he had passed. His Lord will welcome him back home with
outstretched arms of Pride and Gratitude.

"Crabby John" and I worked together at the County Auditors office for many years. My late husband, Terry McGrath and I were honored to be invited to John and Mel´s wedding at the McHenry mansion. We remained friends until the end, with both of us losing our partners within months of each other.Rest in peace my dear.
