I so enjoyed corresponding with Loren after he moved; he was an inspiration to me, an aspiring teacher, as long as I was at MoHi. I shall miss his letters and just knowing such a special man was part of this world. May he rest in peace, and comfort to you, too.

It was one of my greatest pleasures to teach in the same department with Loren. He set a standard of excellence that teachers strive for and for him it was simply his gift. He was kind and caring and always looked for new ways to reach his kids. Those of us who taught with him still miss him and his wit, his creativity and professionalism.

Mr. Horton was my senior government teacher in 1970/1971 at Modesto High. I enjoyed him very much and still have a favorite quote that he had on the classroom wall. Rest in peace Mr. Horton.

I was so fortunate to have him as a history teacher. He had so much patience with me. I was a bit of a goof off. I respected him and how he was so smooth and calming when he spoke. That boyish grin, would slowly make it's way across his face ... as he would rub his chin. No, I didn't have a crush... Hmmmn. I have mentioned previously that he brought culture to us. He wanted to help raise us west side students up. He did! He would bring to the classroom paintings that I believe he checked out of the Stanislaus Library. After a few weeks, he'd swap out a different one. I appreciated his style of teaching and the man he was. Never forgotten.
