Mary Brunn Obituary

Mary Brunn
August 25, 1934 - July 27, 2021
Modesto, California - Mary Ellen O'Brien Brunn was born in San Francisco. She was baptized at Mission Dolores Basilica, and attended Notre Dame grammar school and high school. Mary graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco College for Women (Lone Mountain). She met Charles at a Lone Mountain-USF "mixer", and they were married at St. Cecilia's Church in San Francisco in 1956. Mary and Charles moved to Modesto in 1959, and Mary began her 32-year career as a Supervising Probation Officer with the Stanislaus County Probation Department. Following retirement, Mary became a licensed private investigator. During retirement she frequently visited her lifelong friends at "Probation Lunch-Bunch" events, on the golf course, and at the shooting range. Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Modesto.
Mary was preceded in death by Charles, her husband of 64 years; her parents, Emmett and Mary O'Brien; her sister, Norma Reed; and Charles' beloved aunt, Sister Mary Adrienne Kennedy, CSJ. She is survived by her sons, Gerald Brunn (Sandra), Michael Brunn (Cynthia), and Patrick Brunn; her grandsons, Captain Ryan Brunn (Katelyn), David Brunn, and James Brunn; and her great-grandson, Jackson Brunn.
Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California, will be private. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to consider donations to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356; or Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 1520 Ralston Avenue, Belmont, CA 94002.
