Michael Frederick Obituary

Michael E. Frederick

January 2, 1964 - April 5, 2025

Modesto, California - Michael (Mike) Frederick passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, April 5, 2025, at the age of 61 in his home in Modesto, California, the city where he was born on January 2, 1964, the son of Donna and James Frederick.

Mike is survived by his loving father, James Frederick, daughters McKenna and Genessa, their mother Kim, and his sisters Linda and Cynthia. His mother, Donna, passed in 2002. Mike also leaves behind many other family members, friends and coworkers who will greatly miss him.

Mike tirelessly supported his girls in youth sports, attending games, meets and practices, and taking on coaching duties when the need arose.

Whatever the team needed, Mike was there to help.

Mike graduated from Downey High in 1982, and went on to become a journeyman pipefitter. From there he learned every aspect of his field and worked his way up to becoming a skilled estimator and a project manager on complex construction jobs. He earned the respect of his peers for his steady leadership and commitment to excellence.

Mike was a lifelong fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and NFL Raiders, and a devout Mets fan. He loved fishing in the nearby Sierra mountains. He particularly loved fly fishing in the eastern Sierras. He was a skilled craftsman in many trades, and was known for the quality of his work and attention to detail.

Mike was a connoisseur of a wide range of musical genres, from classical to heavy metal and attended many concerts over the years.

Mike's passing leaves an empty space in our hearts. But our pain is eased in knowing he has moved on to a place of peace. He will be greatly missed by us all, and never forgotten.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25th , at 4 pm, Franklin & Downs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mike's name.

Mike was one of my best friends from grade school to high school we fell out of touch in 1994 since I moved to SoCal. I am shocked to hear about his passing. My deepest sympathies to his father, sisters, wife and daughters.

I read this obituary with a heavy heart. I first met Mike in 1996. He is a friend of my Dad and Uncles. They used to hang out at Season Tickets on Fridays and Saturdays so in the days of no cell phones, my friends and I would track them down in the hopes I could get some cash from my dad but would usually end up staying and having nachos and sodas. That´s where I got to meet his wife Kim as well and they always treated me (a teenager) with love and kindness showing genuine interest in how I was doing and what was new. They both have made an impression on my heart. I got to spend a lot of time with Mike (and Kim) when we would all go to Raiders games in the early 2000s. Mike was one of a kind. I will never forget him and I pray God gives comfort to his daughters as they deal with the loss of their father! With love, Jessie Balam.
