Richard Gardiner
Richard R. Gardiner
March 6, 1935 - November 14, 2018
Richard Ronald Gardiner passed from this earth on November 14, 2018. He was a man who was bigger than life and touched all he knew with his high energy, brilliant mind, and wonderful sense of humor.
Richard was born to Ann Corrie and Walt Gardiner on March 6, 1935 in San Francisco, CA. A graduate of Analy High School in Sebastopol, CA he joined the military and served in Korea. After an honorable discharge, Richard worked a variety of jobs, honing his skills in sales and his natural entrepreneurial nature.
Richard enjoyed a successful career with Sears in Stockton then was transferred to South Lake Tahoe to manage a Sears store. Following a dream to work in the real estate industry, Richard earned a broker's license, left Sears and developed a real estate and property management company, Tamarack Realty. He became a well known, highly respected business leader in the community and was president of the Chamber of Commerce.
It was in Lake Tahoe that Richard and his wife Linda bore the light of his life, Sarah Ann Macy.
After a successful real estate career in Lake Tahoe, Richard relocated to Modesto and resumed a career in real estate. His marriage to Linda ended but Richard found Peggy who became his wife, partner, love of his life, and in the end his amazing caregiver.
Richard and Peggy moved to Roseville in 1989 and began to grow the business even more. They soon had a large client base of investors and many homes that they managed. In 2000 they closed the business and Richard retired. Richard and Peggy were together while she went into Estate Management taking care of large mansions for their owners and running their staff. In 2007 they moved back to Modesto.
Richard and Peggy enjoyed many wonderful years in Modesto with extended family that included Mark, Gina, stepdaughter Sandy and her husband Pete, stepson Craig and his wife Sharon, his sister-in-law Jan and her husband Cliff, Linda Macy, and of course their daughter Sarah and her husband Martijn.
As a young man Richard loved the poem titled The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe which began "Quoth the raven nevermore." With a nod to the author, Richard would have loved to have come full circle and revisit his favorite poem. Nevermore will a man walk the earth like Richard, who loved Peggy so dearly, and gave the world his beautiful daughter Sarah. Evermore will he be remembered and loved and missed.
Evermore we will love you, Richard.
