I met Bob in early 1962 at UCSB where we both pledged Delta Tau Delta. Later, summer of 62 I worked for Bob, hauling hay in the Lodi area. The two of us became close friends and remained so until his death. I was an usher in Bob & Barbara´s wedding, knew Bob´s parents, sister and Lodi friends. We entertained Bob & Barb at our Hudson home in upstate NY and at our apartment in NYC´s East Village. The B & B team were the best! Bob `s commitment to service above self and his strong religious belief inspired and motivated many, myself included, to do good deeds! I continue to miss Bob very much, as do many, but know his spirit lives on in the life´s of those privileged to know and admire him! May Bob rest in peace!

I met Bob at UC Santa Barbara, spring semester 1962. We pledged Delta Tau Delta together and I hauled hay with him for several weeks during the summer of 62, living at the Fuller Lodi residence and being privileged to meet and know his parents and dog Flika. Later I was an usher in Bob & Barbara´s wedding and the three of us remained close friends for many years. We spent a memorable couple of weeks together at my homes in Hudson , NY and in Manhattan during the summer of 2010 and I flew to Reno, Nevada to attend their 50th wedding anniversary at the Fuller residence in Lake Tahoe. Bob dearly loved Barbara, as she did him! They were the perfect couple. For me, Bob was a best friend, honest, principled, kind to all, generous and memorable beyond descriptive words. I will miss him very much and look forward to seeing him again in the great beyond! Rest in peace old, valued and trusted friend Bob!

I I went all through grade school with Bob - George Washington then Needham. He was the only guy his friends knew who excelled in Judo. In the 8th grade some guy challenged him to a fight and Bob met him at the old SellRite Market parking lot where McDonald's now is and half the school showed up. Bob whipped his butt. He went on to become Captain of our Class of '60 Varsity Football Team and was voted best looking guy in our senior class. Bob also excelled in Algebra in Mr. Chafee's class our sophomore year. We spent countless nights on Marian's den floor studying for class. About 3 years ago we both found our Report Cards and decided to compare them over the phone. He got 4 straight Cs. I got 2 Ds and 2 D-. For decades after that class he'd always ask me, "Hey Melcher, have you figured out the formula yet?" The other highlight about Bob's life was his hay-hauling business with Argust Smith in Minden - Gardnerville, Nevada and how many guys tried to join the company then quit after one day because the work was too hard. Thank you Barb for your strong influence on him becoming a solid Christian believer. God bless and comfort your whole family at this time. Love you much.

Bob and I first met at Emerson School ,Kinder Garden and continued our Friendship thru Lodi high School. During 6th grade several of us would meet at a vacant lot next door to Mike Stemlers house, along with several other class mates for a football game. I believe it was bob who knocked he Wind out of me on one of the Plays. If not Bob, it could have been someone else. At the time I was trying to get my breath. Bob was also very good a
shot Put as well. Bob and Mike Stemler would Bale Hay during the summer to build up their muscles for Football. When we graduated, I lost track of Bob. How appropriate for Bob to be in the military commanding Tanks. He was a Tank in many ways. But he was always kind. I last saw him at our last Class reunion. At his home in Lodi. I had to ask him if he still has his Lionel Train. We played with it one time in his upstairs bedroom. Some things you just do not Be At peace. Clyde Ehrhardt
