Robert Judge Obituary

ROBERT A BARCLAY SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE (RET) FEB 26, 1934 - APR 7, 2010 Bob, age 76, born in Oakes, North Dakota, passed away at Emanuel Hospital in Turlock, CA after a short illness. His wife Norene was by his side. Bob was well loved by all who knew him. He was famous for his ever present sense of humor, warm heart, and he could tell the best jokes and stories! He joined the Air Force at age 17 in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He graduated from the University of California Hastings School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 1961. He served as District Attorney of Modoc County for the next 12 years. In 1974, he was appointed Judge of the Alturas Judicial District and took assignments up and down the state sitting in nearly every county from Oregon to the Mexican border. Many of us tried to convince him to write a book of his many travels and courtroom experiences, but he never got around to it. In Sept. 1993, the then California Supreme Court Associate Justice, Ronald M. George, dedicated the new Robert A. Barclay Justice Center and presented a plaque to Bob which read in honor and appreciation of your outstanding service to the justice system in California and particularly in Modoc County, where you have served with dedication and integrity for over 30 years as District Attorney, Public Administrator, and Judge; where your compassion and commitment have extended beyond the bench, embracing the entire community and all its residents; and where the Robert A. Barclay Justice Center, will remain a lasting and fitting tribute to you for your countless contributions as a public servant and citizen.'' Bob is survived by his loving wife, Norene, his faithful companion, Willy, and nine children: Fritz (Joan), Alturas, CA; Joan (Pete), Redding, CA; Mary (Joel) Sonoma, CA; Lori (J.T.), Redding, CA; Patti, Pittsburgh, CA; Peggy (Steve), Merced, CA; David (Sue), Manteca, CA; Michael (Debra), Incline NV; Suzy (Rick), Cool, CA; 11 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Janet (Matt), Brian (Christy), Jerry, Shawn, Davey, Jay, Cole (Anna),Wally, Chantel, and Trevor. 5 great-grandchildren: Tiara, Ariana, Blake, Rebecca, and Reese. 1 great-great-grandchild: Neptune Carter. MN; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gladys Barclay. A celebration of Bob's life'' will be held on May 8, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Dan Ramos Community Center, 20079 Falke Street, Hilmar, CA 95324. Norene and family - We are truly saddened to hear of Uncle Bob's passing. He was an incredible man. I am always in awe of how much he accomplished in his life and the easy going manner in which he conquered his challenges along the way. Please know your entire family is in our prayers and our hearts. Every time I remember Uncle Bob it will always be with a smile on my face - that is just the kind of man he was. All of Our Love - Patti (Kronaizl) and Mike Bender
