Silvester Joseph Fisicaro

Oakdale, California - Silvester Joseph Fisicaro, 84, of Oakdale, died peacefully of natural causes in Modesto on August 17th, 2024.

He was born on March 19th, 1940, to Anthony and Dorothy Fisicaro, the oldest of three children. He is survived by his son, Paul Fisicaro, his daughter in-law, Angela Fisicaro, his three grandchildren Haley Fisicaro, Dominic Fisicaro & Bella Fisicaro, his sister in-law Connie Fisicaro, his nephew, Josh Bryant, and his three nieces, Kelsey (Clayton) Bryant, Amy Fisicaro and Kailey Fisicaro. His parents, his uncle Victor and brothers John and Jimmy precede him in death.

Joe was born in San Fransisco and moved to Riverbank when he was five years old. He grew up on farm off Highway 108, across from property his Nonno bought and began farming after emigrating from Sicily by way of San Francisco. Joe was driving the family tractor at six years old and had developed a strong work ethic by working on the farm at such a young age.

He played baseball & football at his Riverbank High School and was drafted into the Army shortly after graduation. After his time with the military, he found work at the Army Ammunition Plant in Riverbank, where he met and married his first wife Wynelda and thereafter had their only son Paul. Joe was divorced from Wynelda in 1971 and found a new partner in life in 1976, with Vicky Collins. Though they were never married, their love for each other their children and grandchildren was amazing. The importance of family was a major theme in Joe's life. He enjoyed visiting his son on Sunday's while watching the game. SF Giants Baseball was always the big event.

Joe finished his career as a upper tier forklift driver for the Sharp Army Depot and spent countless hours fishing at Woodward Lake and Lake Tulloch at the beginning of his retirement.

A kind man, a good man, and a friend who could be counted on, he always valued the opportunity to be helpful to others, especially to those less fortunate than himself.

A Special Mass Remembrance will be held on January 8th, 2025 at 5:45 p.m., at St Joseph's Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Rd, Modesto CA.
