Skip Kosiewicz Memoriam

Stephan "Skip" Wayne Kosiewicz
July 17, 1946 - August 21, 2012
Skip entered his eternal home at age 66 at the Sutter Rehab Institute in Roseville after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in San Francisco to Stanley John Kosiewicz and Opal Irene Kosiewicz (Harms), but resided most of his life in Modesto. After attending El Vista Elementary, LaLoma Junior High, he graduated from Downey High School in '65. Then, he began his 38 year career as a brakeman and conductor with the Southern Pacific Railroad on his birthday in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart (Dorothy Carey - '67 Downey graduate) in 1967 and then was blessed with two of the greatest sons any parents could have, Jon and Todd. He spent many years enjoying the Troop 76 dads and encouraging scouts as they grew from boys to men. Skip's family continued to grow with the addition of daughter-in-laws: Holly (Herrmann) and Kelly (Hume) and three grandchildren: Abby, Marissa and Jackson.
After his family, Skip's greatest love was cars. The romance began when a man gave him a '49 Chevrolet Deluxe, black, two door sedan, fastback. If there ever was a car guru...it was Skip. He liked reading car magazines, watching car programs/races on T.V. and working on cars whenever, wherever for whomever. He belonged to the Mid Valley Chevy Club which he always enjoyed no matter what the occasion: ice cream socials, car runs, tours, meetings... You could often find Skip at breakfast with the railroad or car club boys discussing...cars!
As a husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle, neighbor, and friend, Skip is going to be missed by so many people who truly loved him. To honor Skip, the family is requesting that you would do two things: go out and help someone because that is what he enjoyed doing most .... helping others and take a moment to give extra long hugs to your family.
A celebration of Skip's life is being planned for the future.

He was the absolute definition of neighbor. He loved his neighbor as himself. He was an all around good man and I am honored to be his friend and neighbor.
