Tom Moore Obituary

TOM R. MOORE

On Sunday, July 4, 2004, Tom R. Moore died in a motorcycle accident while enjoying a Sunday ride with a friend.

Tom was born in McAllister, Oklahoma on January 2, 1940. His family then moved to the Los Angeles area in 1944 and remained there until 1961. He attended Bell High School. In 1961, Tom and his family moved to Modesto, residing there from 1961 to 1978 when he and his family moved to Ceres.

Although Tom worked as a general contractor for over 25 years, he had also been employed by the City of Modesto, Modesto City Schools, Ceres Unified School District and more recently, as the Sales Manager for Gaede's Used Car Sales in Ceres.

There were few in the Ceres community who didn't know Tom,. As a regular at the Peach Tree Restaurant, Tom would take time each day to have coffee with his friends and community members catching up on town and world news.

All who knew Tom were well aware of his hobbies that included fishing, boating, motorcycles, cars, off-road racing and his love of the Oakland Raiders. In September, Tom was planning to attend the 50th Anniversary Reunion of the Drag Wagons, his car club from Los Angeles.

Married to DeLinda, Tom and Dee are the parents of three sons, Robert, Randy and Matt. Always civic-minded, Tom was always active in activities in which his sons were involved, including athletics.

In the 1970's, Tom actively coached both for Modesto Youth Baseball and Babe Ruth. Always supporting athletic programs, Tom was a member of the Davis High School Booster Club, and in 1977, Tom was recognized for his contributions by Grace Davis High School. In the 1980's and 1990's, Tom was a member of the Ceres High School Booster Club, serving on its Board, and then as President. In 1990, Tom was honored as the Recreation Volunteer of the Year by the City of Ceres.

Tom treasured his family, and his belief in God and Jesus Christ. He loved his wife, DeLinda and together they gave unconditional support and love to both their children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, DeLinda, Tom is survived by his sons and their families; Rob Moore and Victoria Booker and their children, Artiste, Brandon, Kashmir, Durant, Deaven, Dauson and Symphony of Modesto; Randy and Lisa Mantarro Moore and their children, Austin Ryder and Aiden Ridge of Ceres; and Matt and Tracey Sharpe and their daughter, Brooke Alexsa of Riverbank.

He is also survived by his parents, Luke and Ruby Moore, and his brother John Moore of Citrus Heights. Also survived by his mother-in-law Gerry Gilbert of Ceres.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 9th at 11:00 am at Grace Community Christian Church, located at 3754 E. Service Road, Ceres.

Remembrances can be made to Ceres High School Booster Club, P.O. Box 307, Ceres, CA 95307, or to Grace Community Christian Church, P.O. 2707, Ceres, CA 95307.

Uncle Tom was a wonderful asset to our family, and although I havent seen him & Aunt De' for quite awhile I will miss him. I love you both Uncle Tom & Aunt De'. You are in my thoughts & prayers daily. I only wish that I had known about his accident sooner, so that I could have been there to comfort you Aunt De' & Matt. We are blesed to have him as our Guardian Angel. All of our love to you Uncle Tom, and tell grandpa I said "Hi & I miss him.".

Tommy was my second cousin. I had not seen him in quite some time after my family and I moved here to arizona in 1987. But I will always remember him being so funny, and always smiling. Also coming to visit us at my grandparents, Flonnie and Dallas Baldridge, he had spent many fishing trips with my grandfather. We are so sadden by his sudden death. And tho I didn't know his wife Delinda, I want her to know that she and her family is in our prayers. Also Aunt Ruby and Uncle Luke, May God comfort you at this time. We will miss you Tommy.

God bless, Cindy Koprivnikar and family.

We were High School friends that didn't end there, our friendship was carried on all these years. We are honored because you could go through a life time and not have a friend like Tommy but we were blessed to have that. It leaves us with such a void in our lifes but we will always remember the great times. He was such fun and full of life. We Love You Tommy and God Bless Dee and the family.
