Tony Fuentes Obituary

Tony Fuentes

May 12, 1948 - April 7, 2025

Modesto, California - Tony Fuentes, 76, of Modesto, California, sadly passed away on April 7th, 2025 to a long battle with cancer. Tony was surrounded by family at home. Tony was born on May 12th, 1948 in Azusa, CA. His whole life was dedicated to family. A true family man, showing unconditional love and support to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Tony retired from the Housing Authority in 2010, where he served as a housing inspector for 39 years. Tony was a man of faith, always expressed his love for God. Tony and his wife Patricia Fuentes got married in 2009. They were married 16 years and together for over 25 years. He loved her wholeheartedly and made sure she knew that until the very end.

Tony grew up in Biola and Turlock. His family were farm workers, moving around based on the seasons. Tony was proud of his upbringing; it shaped who he was. He was grateful and that carried on into his later years. He moved to Modesto as an adult. Tony always talked about his mother and father, admiring their sacrifices made for their family. Tony was taught to work hard and provide for his family. His father Antonio would always say "Puro Fuentes" (Pure Fuentes). It was a symbol of strength and will to believe you can do anything because he carried Fuentes blood.

Tony attended Turlock High School and Modesto Junior College. He wrestled for both schools and went onto earn his name in the Hall of Fame for both programs. He enjoyed sports, singing, playing the guitar, and Elvis Presley. Tony had a passion for sports. Once he had his own family; he supported them at nearly every game or sporting event.

Tony is preceded in death by his mother and father Jennie and Antonio Fuentes; brother Rudy Fuentes; and other close family members.

Tony is survived by his wife Patricia; his children Anthony and Kendall. As well as his grandchildren Anthony, Daisy, Phillip, Ricky, Johnny, Liliana, Elias, Arabella, Enrique; and his ten great grandchildren. His brothers, sisters, and many others. Tony was such an amazing, kind, loving man, and he will truly be missed. "The Man, The Myth, The Legend."

Tony's service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home. The viewing will be held on Monday April 21st, 5 to 8 p.m. with the rosary starting at 6 p.m. The burial service is the following morning, Tuesday April 22nd at 10 a.m.

My Big brother Tony. My terror as the youngest boy growing up. Lol always beating me up , doing pranks ,like putting underwear over my head while sleeping , making so made that I'd go after him windmilling punches at him only to be stopped in my tracks with his extended arm and hand on my head.. and I'd be telling that I would get him when I grew up, and I would be bigger... it never happened... Tony was a big brother.. some one to look up to.. I could never understand how he could be so nice to people who didn't deserve it. Not like me, if you crossed me I'd remember. I was the kid brother who wanted to hang out with my Older Brother,s but was to young .they were going to dance,s playing in a band, chasing Girls , hanging out with their friends . If I was around they would shu me away . As we got older we all had family gathering all of us and even friends , played sports ,together. Even got into some brawls together .I'm going to miss him very much .he became the mother hen of us brothers and sisters making sure we were alright, I gave him that title because you could be sure to get a visit or call.. one time he called me to kinda chew me out for not calling while he was in the hospital, lol . I didn't know this at the time but he and I were both admitted the same time and hospital .. Rest in peace my Brother. We love you and are going to miss your presence, till we meet again in heaven..your kid brother Ed sr.
