Vincent Sand Obituary

Vincent Ralph Sand
December 26, 1958 - April 17, 2021
Modesto, California - Vincent Ralph Sand passed away at the age of 62, April 17, 2021 in Modesto. Vince was born on December 26, 1958 in Ceres, to Ralph and Rosalie Sand. Vince grew up in Escalon with his mother; brother, Mark Sand and grandparents, Arthur and Lida Rossetti. They lived next door to their family business, Rossetti's Market, where Vince worked as a teen and young adult. It was a place where Vince and his family spent a lot of time until his mother retired in 2006.
Vince attended Escalon High School, where he excelled at basketball and baseball. He was a member of the State Champion Cougar basketball team, and during baseball season, Vince could be found on the pitching mound while his brother Mark was behind the plate as the catcher. He graduated in 1977. Following high school, he attended Azusa Pacific University on a baseball scholarship. After completing one year, he moved closer to home and continued to excel at baseball while attending Modesto Junior College and graduating from California State University, Stanislaus. After graduation, Vince worked as a real estate agent before beginning a long career at State Farm Insurance that lasted nearly 40 years. A hard worker all his life, he retired in February of 2021.
Vince was a loving and supportive father to his children, Lisa and Scott. He was one of their greatest encouragers and actively coached and attended their many sporting events and activities. He adored his two grandchildren, Audra and Grant, and was looking forward to meeting another grandson due in July of 2021.
He was an avid sports fan, especially the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Raiders and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He enjoyed playing golf and softball with his many friends and son. Vince loved to share a good meal with his family and friends. He was known for replicating his cioppino recipe each year, passed down from his grandmother, Lida. He was happiest when traveling, especially while visiting many baseball and football stadiums across the country with his son and on the beach in Hawaii with his daughter and family. Vince was friendly, generous and kind-hearted to everyone he met and was a good friend to many. He loved to tease and could light up a room with his sense of humor and laugh.
Vince is survived by his children; Lisa (Josh) Kimerer of Roseville, Scott (Madeleine) Sand of Escalon; his grandchildren, Audra and Grant Kimerer and a baby boy (Sand) due in July of 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Rosalie Sand; Grandparents, Arthur and Lida Rossetti; and his brother, Mark Sand.
Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Escalon. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at Del Rio Country Club in Modesto on Thursday, April 29th at 12:30pm.
