Pastor Art Herfurth was born on May 21, 1940, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and entered the gates of Heaven on May 31, 2016 in Modesto, California. Art was raised in Merced where he met and married his wife Linda Hammons. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to San Jose and lived there until their return to Modesto in 1978. Art worked at Hewlett Packard for 25 years as a Quality Control Engineer and served as an Assembly of God minister for 38 years. In 1992, he was injured at work and retired from HP in order to focus on his health and ministry. He continued to preach and serve at The Carpenter's House until he became homebound because of his injury and health. Art is survived by his wife of 55 years Linda Herfurth, daughters/sons-inlaw: Tamara and Michael Buck, Julie Murphy and Susanne and James Dyer Herfurth. He is also survived by grandchildren: Gregg and Nichelle Buck, Shaun and Lisa Murphy, Derik Murphy and Mary Yagob, Joel and Jennifer Buck, Lindsey Murphy and Nathan Barlow. He is survived by one great grandson Bryce Buck and brother Del Her furth. Art was preceded in death by his parents Pearl and Henry Herfurth Sr. and brother, Henry Herfurth Jr. His testimony of love and faith in Jesus has blessed his family and friends even in his last days. Art was known for loving not only family but everyone he met.
