William Nicholson Obituary

WILLIAM PRESTON NICHOLSON OCT 6, 1944 - AUG 29, 2009 Born to Thomas and Beryl A. Nicholson in Knoxville, Tennessee. Raised by his mother and step-father, Robert Schuler, in Fort Myers, Florida with 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 step-brother. The family moved to Merced, California and lived there two years until they moved to Modesto where Bill attended Modesto High. Bill joined the Army National Guard in 1960 and married Marie Jasmer on March 16, 1963. "Cowboy Bill" is survived by his loving wife Marie and four sons: Shannon Nicholson (Raqual) of Modesto; Mike Nicholson (Patricia), of Modesto; Brian "JB" Nicholson (Sheryl), of Haysville, Kansas and Preston Joseph Nicholson, also of Modesto, who was just inducted into the Army on August 24th, 2009 and is currently stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri. He is also survived by his step-brother Robert Schuler of Monrovia, California, and 14 grandchildren. His hobbies were playing baseball, football, golf and weight lifting. He owned his own business doing yard work. In 1969 he was hired by the City of Modesto's Water Department and worked for more than 20 years until his retirement. After his retirement, he remained active by running his own Karate business along with several other jobs. His love of gardening showed through the way he kept his own yard. A member of the Modesto 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his memorial services will be Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the LDS Sylvan Chapel, 800 Sylvan Avenue, Modesto, CA. www.modbee.com/obituaries
