William Oscar Zehrung

WILLIAM (BILL) OSCAR ZEHRUNG APR 21, 1923 - JAN 12, 2009 Bill was born in Pendleton, Oregon and migrated with his family to California in the late 1920's. He lived in the Hughson/Denair area most of his life where he had a farm on East Whitmore Road. This is where he raised his family, peaches and later almonds. He was a veteran of World War II, a long time member of the Hughson Odd Fellows, Stanislaus County Farm Bureau, Hughson United Methodist Church and a dedicated supporter of the California Women for Agriculture. All who knew Bill respected his pleasant nature and ability to overcome any adversity that came his way. He was a quiet man, but when he told you something you could take it to the bank. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude and son Bruce in 1997 where he will be with them again in heaven. He is survived by his children Barbara Warner (Roger) of Hickman, Brent Zehrung (Jill) of Denair, Beth Fritz (Chuck) of Modesto and Barbara Zehrung-Foote (Devon) of Ballico, brother Tom Zehrung of Mariposa and sisters Zaida Cashman of Oakdale, Margaret (Peg) Webb of LeBec, Jean Phillips of Nevada and loving cousin Joellen Erlington of Hilmar. He has 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A church service will be held at the Hughson United Methodist Church located at 6th and Fox Road in Hughson at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 17th.
