DARRELL HARRY KRUSE
Darrell Harry Kruse, age 77, of Bullhead City, Arizona, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Darrell was born on January 28, 1944 to Robert and Pearl Kruse in the bustling city of Chicago.
After Darrell graduated from East Leyden High School in 1962, he worked in manufacturing and was a Radio Teletype Operator during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany.
In 1974, he married Bonnie Kruse and went on to have 2 boys, Jeremy Kruse and Daniel Kruse. Later in life, he went on to marry his last love, Penelope Kruse in 1987. With this marriage, he became a stepfather to Dennis Alsteen, Leslie Volz, Dawn Kaiser and Christopher Alsteen.
Through his long life, Darrell enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was recognized for drag racing and maintaining his '67 and '68 Chevelle. Darrell loved to bake and decorate cakes. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and fishing with his family as well as playing cards.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kruse and Pearl Kruse; his sister, Beverly West, his brother, Duane Kruse; and step-son Christopher Alsteen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Penelope Kruse; sons, Jeremy (Jennifer) Kruse, Daniel (Sarah) Kruse, and Dennis (Darlyne) Alsteen; daughters,. Leslie (Andy) Volz and Dawn (Michael) Alsteen; sisters, Roberta Anderson and Diane Leahy; grandchildren, Mariah, Steven, Wesley and Samuel; and step-grandchildren, Brandon, Jakob, Christopher, Noah, Nicholas, David Elias, Andrianna, Madeleine, George, Ethan, John, Gabriella and Lilly.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1611 E. Marble Canyon Drive, Bullhead City, AZ 86442.
