ESTHER PROA Obituary
Born on March 27, 1941, Esther lived a life grounded in love, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. A dedicated homemaker and a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Esther earned her high school diploma in 1978 through night school alongside her eldest son, Alberto which was a proud and memorable accomplishment. She later went on to earn her LVN certification from San Bernardino Valley College, fulfilling a lifelong passion for helping others.
Esther was a woman of deep Catholic faith and was an active and beloved member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Needles, California. Whether teaching catechism, leading the choir, or organizing parish events, she gave her heart and soul to the church and its congregation.
She also found great joy in traveling and spending time with her grandchildren, building a lifetime of cherished memories that her family will forever hold dear.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto Proa; her parents, Delfino and Consuelo Landeros; her sisters, Alice Casas, Connie Casas, Paula Romero, Loida Landeros, brother Delfino Landeros; and her son-in-law Robert Gason.
Esther is lovingly survived by her children, Alberto, Rudolph (Kathleen), Rory (Marylee), and Diane; her grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Rachel, Zachary, Audrey, Vanessa, Veronica, Desiree, Nicholas, Ricardo, and Kristen; along with 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Rachel Castro, Gloria Proa, Mary Lou Castro, and Rebecca Landeros; as well as stepbrothers, Sam and Mario Landeros.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Mohave Valley, AZ.
The funeral Mass will follow on Friday, September 26, 2025, at St. Ann's Catholic Church 218 D St. Needles, California with burial to take place at Needles Riverview Cemetery, 1101 E Broadway St. Needles, California
Following the service, the family invites all who knew and loved Esther to join them at The Elks Lodge, 1000 Lillyhill Dr. Needles, California for a reception to share a meal and memories of a remarkable woman whose legacy of love, faith, and strength lives on in all who were
