Pastor Del Everett Southerland, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Needles, California on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
Del was born on June 11, 1949 in San Bernardino, California, and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1967.
Del was accomplished in construction, public works, and in the field of civil engineering. He was talented, generous, and had the best sarcastic (in a nice way) sense of humor. Del was a dedicated individual who also enjoyed flying airplanes, photography, archery, target shooting, fishing, hunting, and hiking. He really enjoyed the simple things in life and loved a quiet night at home gazing at the stars in front of a roaring bonfire, and melting a few marshmallows.
After he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in his forties, he became driven and compelled to serve GOD in any and every capacity. He was committed to missions and volunteer work as a skilled laborer, mentor, prayer partner, and Biblical teacher, serving both inside and outside of the U.S. Del and Pam were Chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team and served others in their time of need. They also helped build three wheeled carts for people who couldn't walk so they would be able to earn a living and get around on their own. He was a faithful and active member of several congregations over the years and became ordained as a minister of the gospel at The Word Church on November 29, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Doris Southerland; son, Shane Southerland; and brother-in-law, David Hughes.
Del is survived by his wife, Pamela Southerland; sons, Josh and his wife Vanessa, and Corey Southerland; stepdaughters, Judea and her husband Jordan, Rhema and her husband, Taylor; granddaughters, Cheyenne and Adora; and sister, Linda Hughes.
The Celebration of Life is at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Set Free Church in Needles, California. Pastor Martin Souter will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Del's life.
