SANDRA HESS Obituary

Sandy Hess, age 61, a Fort Mohave resident, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by those that she loved most in life. She was born August 4, 1955 at Burley, Idaho, the second child of Everett and Arvetta Savage.

Sandy was raised in the Heyburn area and attended schools in Heyburn and at Minico High School. She was a Spartan even when she went to Burley for her senior year in 1973. Sandy met her sweetheart in March of 72 and they were married on August 2, 1972 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Sandy traveled the world as her husband was in the military and spent ten years in Europe and three years in Hawaii.

She was a loving mother, mamaw and great mamaw. She was always caring and had a smile on her face no matter what was happening to her. Her love was serving others and her faith, as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in numerous callings. She was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 34 ½ years. Sandy's talents have enabled her to serve at every volunteer position within the Boy Scouts; such as Den Leader, Day Camp Director in Germany, Woodbadge Staff in Germany, Baloo Director worldwide, National Camp School Staff in Arizona, Business Manager for Kimball Scout Reservation in Nevada, Commissioner at Del Webb High Adventure Base Camp in Utah, Business Manager at Lost Lakes in Alaska, Camp Director for Camp Levi Levi near Kingman, Ariz. for the last 10 years, District Commissioner for many years before taking over as the District Chairman, a position that she held until her passing. She was even called to serve as the Kingman, Ariz. Stake Boy Scout Coordinator. Sandy has earned several knots to include the District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver and is a recipient of the Influential Women In Scouting Award.

Sandy belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She stood firm in her faith and strived to be Christ like. Sandy held several callings within the church. Her favorite calling was Relief Society President where her focus was on Visiting Teaching.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Arvetta Savage; siblings, Jaunee (Wayne) Harvison, Denise (Bob) Hunter, Kelly (Albert) Garcia, Michael Savage, Tracy (Justine) Savage; son, Kyle Everett Hess; and son-in-law, Jamie Burnett (Stephanie Crespo).

Sandy is survived by her husband, Steven V. Hess; children, Cyndy (Terry) Buchanan, Steven E. (Manuel) Hess, Cory (Brandy) Hess, Stephanie Crespo and Scott (Jennifer) Hess; brother, Robert Savage; sister, Bobbi Jo Savage; special sister (cousin), Nina (Tim) Osterhaut; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 2, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 610 Eastern, Kingman, AZ. Viewing will be from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the Relief Society Room with services beginning at noon.
