Alfred Yensz Obituary
Born September 2, 1929, in Monroe, he was the son of the late Alfred and Eleanora (Berns) Yensz.
As a young man, Alfred joined the United States Army and served his country honorably and with pride during World War II.
On September 23, 1950, he married Lois A. Siebert and together they raised three children.
Alfred made his living working 15 years for Northstar Steel and for over 34 years at Monroe Paper Products.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 514, and a life long member of the VFW Post 1138, where he was a proud member of the ritual team.
Alfred was a humble, hard working and generous man, beloved by all. He spent countless hours doing fund raising and other forms of charity work in order to help the less fortunate. For many years he would ride his bike every day in order to collect returnable cans and bottles only to give the proceeds to those in need. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, baseball, and animals.
To cherish his memory he leaves his wife of 68 years, Lois "Sweetie"; two sons: Charles (Helen) Yensz of Temperance, MI and Michael (Terri) Yensz of Milford, New Hampshire; a daughter, Susan (Scott) Woodward; nine grandchildren: Robert (Annie) Yensz, Julie Yensz, William (Erin Marie) Blodgett, Jennifer (Matthew) Adams, Benjamin (Laura) Blodgett, Rachel Yensz, Bradley Demma, Alexander (Erica) Woodward and Sarah Woodward, and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 2 until 7 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home. Alfred will lie in state on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Christ Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. with funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. David Hively, pastor of Christ Lutheran will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank both the staff at Wellspring and ProMedica Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

Although I am not acquainted with Al's family I wanted to express my sympathy for your loss. I first met Al when I worked for Eichbauer's Plb and Htg. He would come in for plumbing parts. After they closed I started working for Sieb Plb. and Htg and he would come in there. I always enjoyed seeing him. He was the kindest man. He was part of the Honor Guard at my husband's funeral. After I retired I would see him around town riding his bike. He was a very special,kind and giving soul. So sorry for your loss
