Christopher Thomas McDonald

1987 - 2016

Christopher Thomas McDonald was born on August 28, 1987 in Monroe. He was one of two children born from the union of Paul and Dawn (Balk) McDonald. He obtained his diploma through Monroe High School.
Christopher was blessed with many talents, skills, and characteristics. He was a hard-worker through and through, not afraid to get his hands dirty, he enjoyed tinkering on cars and if something was broken he could surely fix
it.
Christopher was adventurous, often sarcastic, he wasn't afraid to take on new challenges.
For two years, he had been employed by Caterpillar in Winston-Salem. The past year, Christopher had been employed by Gerdau Steel in Monroe as a Crane
Operator.
Christopher always seemed to be on the go but insisted on making time for others, daily calling and speaking to his best friend, his father. He often volunteered at a local soup kitchen.
More than anything he treasured his relationship with family. He had always been great with children, but this love shone brightly in his interaction with his own son, Blake and his niece and two
nephews.
Wherever, Christopher went he could certainly be found with his trusty dog Savage tagging along. He loved to cook and was known as the family "Grill Master".
Christopher enjoyed making time to watch his Detroit Lions and Red Wings, and he loved the outdoors cherishing time spent fishing, hunting, and ice fishing.
Christopher Thomas McDonald, age 29, of Carleton passed away at home unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
To cherish his memory, Christopher leaves his beloved son, Blake Hunter McDonald; his parents, Dawn and Paul McDonald of Winston Salem, North Carolina; his sister, Sara (Justin) Boudrie of Clarkston; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Nancy Balk; his paternal grandparents, Karen McDonald, and Bob (Nancy) McDonald; his nephews, Gabriel and Greyson; and a niece,
Emma.
Friends may gather on Sunday, January 1, 2017, from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017, also at Merkle's with Pastor Bruce Leaman officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
