Elvira Campos Obituary
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at St. Michael Church where she will lie in state at 12 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. by the church Pastor, Fr. Philip Ching. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
Born January 25, 1925 in San Louis Potosi, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Rosalio and Julia (Castillo) Velasquez. Elvira married Ciro Campos in May of 1959 in Elsa, Texas. Sadly, after more than 44 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on April 4, 2004.
Elvira was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a former member of the Sociedad Guadalupana, St. Joseph, Erie.
Elvira loved spending time with her family. She took great pride in her gardening, especially her flower beds and roses. Known for her cooking skills, she loved to prepare food for family and friends. In her spare time, Elvira liked to play bingo and go to the casino.
To cherish her memory, Elvira leaves four sons: Angel Torres of Monroe, Michigan, Herminio (Donna) Torres of Monroe, Michigan, Hector (Ann) Campos of Nebraska and Andres Campos of Monroe, Michigan; five daughters: Margarita (Leonel) Salinas of Monroe, Michigan, Emilia (Barry) Rempe of Monroe, Michigan, Natividad (Carl Behrendt) Campos of Dearborn, Michigan, Belen Moore of Monroe, Michigan and Abelina (Michael) Michalek of Plymouth, Michigan; twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Ciro and her parents, Elvira was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rose Marie Salinas; a great-grandson, Noah Goodman; and a daughter-in-law, Liandra "TaTa" Torres.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Michael Catholic Church.
