Dan was born to Otto and Esther (Berge) Blank on June 7, 1937, in St Cloud. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Foley on June 20, 1937. He spent his childhood in Foley and Dawson, with a brief time in Santa Ana, Calif., before his family settled in Montevideo. There he attended high school and met Verlie, who would become his wife of 67 years until she passed in 2024. In 2004, after Dan's retirement, they moved to Alexandria. A devoted husband, father, friend and proud veteran, Dan served his country with honor in the Minnesota National Guard and in the U.S. Army before building a successful accounting business in Montevideo. Through his quiet dedication, integrity, and steady work ethic he earned the trust and respect of countless clients and colleagues. Known for his quiet presence, Dan was a man of few words but deep loyalty. He was always there when his family or friends needed him-offering support, wisdom, or simply a comforting presence. He especially cherished the ten years he spent working alongside his son Jim on a Little Debbie route. Dan found joy in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished time spent in nature of which there are many fond family memories from those pursuits. His greatest passion was golf - a love he passed on to his son Tom. Whether on the course with friends or family, watching tournaments at home, or mowing the roughs on the Miltona Golf Course, golf was especially enjoyable for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Esther Blank; wife Verlie Blank; daughter Katherine Blank; and brothers, Ron Blank and Jerry Blank.
Dan is survived by his children: Julie (Mike) Neumann of Rochester; Jim (Nancy) Blank of Alexandria; and Thomas (Patrice) Blank of Miltona; seven grandchildren: Andrew (Alex) Neumann, Jennifer (Zach) Sallee, Josh (Carrie) Meyer, Taylor (Callie) Blank, Kyle (Katie) Blank, Chad Blank (fiancée, Hali Christenson), and Natasha (Matt) Osterkamp; four great-grandchildren: Colin Neumann, Chloe and Beau Sallee, and Mackenzie Meyer; brother, Robert (Sally) Blank; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dan will be dearly missed, his memory will continue to comfort and guide those who loved him.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Williams Living Center of Parkers Prairie for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Dan over the past two plus years, and to the staff of Alomere Health of Alexandria for their dedicated support.
