DAVID TOFTE Obituary

DAVID TOFTE David Tofte, formerly of Appleton, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 79. Funeral services were held Monday, October 9, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton at 11 a.m. Pastor Matt Danielson officiated and interment was at Drywood Cemetery north of Appleton. Visitation was held at the church for one hour before the service on Monday. Arrangements were with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. David Palmer Tofte was born May 3, 1944, in Appleton to Ingvald and Eleanor Tofte. He was welcomed as the firstborn boy and was blessed (whether he thought it a blessing or not) with five older sisters, two younger brothers, and one younger sister. David was baptized on July 2, 1944, and confirmed on April 19, 1959, at Drywood Lutheran Church in rural Appleton. David graduated from Appleton High School in 1962. After graduation David took a job with Midland Co-op in Appleton as a tire and service technician where he worked for many years. David was united in marriage September 19, 1964, to Carol Rieppel. To this marriage two sons were born - Jeffrey Allen on March 5, 1965, and to everyone's joy, Brian Paul on May 30, 1969 (guess who wrote this!). David continued to work in various agriculture related jobs throughout his life as a mechanic or truck driver. He worked as a truck driver for West-Con for over 10 years before retiring. He remained a resident of Appleton until relocating to an assisted living residence in Montevideo in 2014. He is survived by his sons: Jeffrey Tofte of Coon Rapids and Brian (Paula) Tofte of Montevideo; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Donald (Connie) Tofte of Benson and Norman (Sue) Tofte of Eden Prairie; sisters: Elvera (Stanley) Sachs of Shoreview, Deanna (Marcel) Hoffman of Benson and Janet Tofte of Appleton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; great-granddaughter Maeva Mijares; sisters: Eileen Hoffman, Phylis Banken and Marian Schliep; and brothers-in-law: Theodore Banken, and Stanley Schliep. Blessed be his memory.
