KENNETH KOENEN Obituary

KENNETH KOENEN 03/30/1929 - 09/29/2025 Kenneth F. Koenen, 96, of Clara City, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Clara City Care Center. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Visitation was held Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bethany Reformed Church and continued one hour prior to services on Saturday. Arrangements with Wing-Bain Funeral Home. Kenneth F. Koenen was born March 30, 1929, the son of Fred T and Almitta Vera (Remillard) Koenen in Erickson Township, Renville County. He was baptized and made confession of faith at Bethany Reformed Church. He attended school at District #37 in Stoneham Township and continued his education at Clara City High School. Ken was united in marriage with Emma Laumb on September 3, 1955, at Bethany Reformed Church. Ken started farming in 1955. In 1965, Ken and Emma purchased and moved to a farm in Section 22 of Havelock Township and raised crops and dairy cattle. They lived on the farm until 2016. He was also Chippewa County Commissioner from 1993 until 2012. Ken was also active with Bethany Reformed Church with the Men's Brotherhood, Catechism teacher, Sunday school teacher and served as a deacon and elder for many years. He is survived by his children, Lyle (Sandy) Koenen of Clara City, Kurt (Maria) Koenen of Clara City, Karla (Rob) Schwendemann of Watson and Paul (Lynnette) Koenen of Clara City; grandchildren: Joseph (Jennifer) Harker and their children Shiann and Logan; Eric (Melanie) Harker and their children Liberty, Axl and Billy; Levi (Jessica) Koenen and their children Lucas and Sunniva; Isaac Koenen; Shawn (Naomi) Koenen and their children Alison, Elizabeth (Tyler) Heida and Sadie; Joshua (Shannon) Koenen and their children Kolton and Quinton; Matthew (Brittany) Koenen and their children Kendall, Asher, Emeric and Oliver; Jaden (Holly) Schwendemann and their children Skyler, Emma and Jakobie; Kaleb (Jessica) Schwendemann and their children Elsa, Esmae and Emersyn; Brittany (Keith) Gordon and their children Evelyn, Cecilia and Elias; Rebeka (John) Scepaniak and their children Ivan, Nora, Sven and baby 3/4/26; Patrick (Tami) Demo and their children Madilynn (Titus) Johnson, Noah, Levi and Lindsey; Melisa (Bobby) Cantwell; Chris (Alicia) Kingsley; siblings Shirley Schnell, Harvey (LaRae) Koenen and Carol Kaupang; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma in 2021, siblings, Viola 1985, Stanley 1992, Harold 2009 & Lois in 2019, grandson Jason in 1982.
