Kenneth Arden Odegard was born on November 4, 1958, in Granite Falls, MN, to Millard and
Mildred (Johnson) Odegard. He was baptized and
later confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church.
Growing up, Kenny was known to spend much
of his time barefoot, and his curiosity about how
things worked started young, earning him a reputation as a backyard mechanic and handyman.
He attended school in Granite Falls. After high
school, he worked various jobs in the area, including at the Renville sugar beet plant with his
father. Kenny briefly lived in the Spirit Lake, IA,
area before moving back to Minnesota.
In 1990, Kenny married DeVona Rorvig on
a trip to Clear Lake, SD, and he became a stepfather to her three girls. A few years later, they
were blessed with their son, Cody. Kenny and
DeVona later divorced in 2016. Also in 1990, Kenny purchased his home in rural Montevideo and
worked at Tebben in Clara City for a few years. He
was then employed at Case IH in Benson for over
24 years until his retirement in 2021.
Kenny was an aspiring œEvel Knievel, sur-
viving several serious accidents in his life; yet
that fact never kept him from pushing the limits
again. Kenny was unapologetically and authentically himself at all times, often presenting a
tough exterior, but was truly caring at his core.
He was not a fan of big crowds or large family
gatherings, but he did enjoy good company. After attending one family gathering, he jokingly
said, œThanks for the commotion, which became a recurring joke among the family. He was
honest, direct, and dependable, with little hints
of rebellion that kept things interesting. Kenny
enjoyed repairing cars, restoring his 1979 Camaro, maintaining his beloved Allis-Chalmers tractors, caring for the farm site, and helping family
members with projects. Kenny™s retirement gifts
to himself included a Dodge Challenger and a
Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Kenny enjoyed traveling and sightseeing
across the country. One trip he recalled from his
youth was a train ride (hobo-style) he took with
a friend out west. Other trips included visits to
the Appalachian Mountains, the Mark Twain
National Forest, South Dakota, Colorado, and the
Gulf of Mexico.
Kenny is survived by his son, Cody (Tianna) Odegard; stepdaughters, Trina Moen, Janae
(Mike) Saunders, and Kara (José) Lopez, and
their families; sister, Margaret (Don) Korstad;
sister-in-law, Sharon Odegard; as well as nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents;
siblings, Virginia (Harvey) Raebel, Kathleen
Oakland, and Ron Odegard.
