Florence Skoyen Obituary

Florence Skoyen
May 27, 1923 ~ November 6, 2008

SALINAS – Florence Skoyen, 85, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Katherine Healthcare. She was born on May 27, 1923 in Chicago, IL.
She was a retired secretary. Florence spent many years in community service as a dedicated volunteer at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Her close friends will miss her quick wit, her excellent sense of humor, her lively spirit, and her keen intelligence. Florence was a generous and loyal friend to many.
Florence will also be remembered for her abiding concern and love for animals; she especially treasured her many devoted pets. She loved to travel. Her travels began when she worked for the United States Government in Germany after World War II. During her career there, Florence traveled extensively throughout Europe. After she and her husband, the late Irvin Skoyen, moved to Salinas in 1957, they continued to travel the world.
She is survived by her nephews, Jerry Pearson and Thomas Anderson; and niece, Sheryl Bossell. At her request, no public services will be held. Donations may be made to The SPCA for Monterey County, P.O. Box 3058, Monterey, CA 93942. Arrangements are by Struve and Laporte Chapel.
