Jodi Davidson Obituary

Jodi Lynn Davidson
June 21, 1976 ~ March 1, 2007

MONTEREY – The Davidson Family is mourning the loss of our beautiful daughter, Jodi Lynn Davidson. Jodi passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2007 at her home, at the age of 30. Her bright smile and beautiful soul will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was born here on the Monterey Peninsula on June 21, 1976.
Jodi attended the Washington Union School, San Benancio School and Carmel Middle School. She graduated from Carmel High School with the class of 1994, where she was a cheerleader, loved dancing with the performance dance troupe, and spending time with her many friends. While she was in high school she was also an active volunteer with the American Diabetes Association of Monterey County. She acted as photographer for the ADA at many fund-raising events. She graduated from The University of San Francisco with a B.S. in Business and Marketing. During her time at USF, she also continued studying dance and was President of the USF Dance Club. Dance was one of her true passions from her childhood when she was a member of Dance and Twirl Club of the Monterey Peninsula.
Jodi married Jason Watson in 2000 and their son, Kyler was born in 2001. Recently she was employed with Macerich Corporation, where she was Marketing Director at Northridge Mall in Salinas. She was an active member of The Salinas Rotary and The Salinas Chamber of Commerce. She also helped plan events for and volunteered with the Salinas Jaycees. Jodi often said that she had found her 'dream job' and loved her work at Northridge. She especially loved the part of her job that allowed her to bring the community and Northridge Mall together. Through her innovative approach to marketing, she planned events important for the children and families of the Salinas/Monterey area. Jodi loved music, dance, the arts and, most of all, her beautiful son, Kyler Watson, who is now five years old and lived with his mother in Monterey. Kyler attends Bay View School in Monterey as a kindergartener.
Jodi is survived by her son, Kyler Watson, 5, of Monterey; her parents, Jeff and Shay Davidson of Carmel; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Gema Davidson of Monterey; and her beloved nieces, Ashley Faith, 2 and Mikayla Shay, 11 months. She is also survived by her grandparents, Marshall and Rosemary Leach of Los Altos and many aunts, uncles and cousins, all who live in the bay area.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mission Mortuary, Camino El Estero, Monterey at 12:00 noon this Saturday, March 10, 2007. Please join us to celebrate the memories and joy Jodi brought us all during her short life. If you wish, please hand-carry some white daisies or pink roses to the service – Jodi's favorite flowers. The family has set up a scholarship fund for Kyler Watson at Wells Fargo Bank, Carmel Crossroads.

I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for my sister and our family. It was nice to see everyone who came to the service, and nice to hear from everyone that called and wrote that could not make it. It meant a lot to the family to know that she touched the lives of so many.
As you can imagine, this has been quite a shock to all of us.
As for my thoughts about my sister... where do I start? Although Jodi was the younger one, she always wanted to be, and thought that she was the older one of us. She played the part so well that she always protected me like a little brother... and was always there when I needed a friend. She supported me in my weakest moments, and always praised me in my finest hour.
To my sister, I would like to say:
New Years will continue to be at midnight...
It will continue to be the same time here as it is in L.A. ...
I will continue to always love you, and I will forever miss you. My world has been turned upside down, and will never be the same without you in it.

I find it impossible to vocalize how saddened I am by the loss of such a beautiful person in this world. I cannot speak for everybody, but I know that Jodi made me feel welcome in her life from the first moment I met her. I will always remember the kind an encouraging words that she shared with me.

On behalf of the staff at radio station X 103.9 FM in Monterey/Salinas/Santa Cruz, I extend our sincere condolences to Jodi's family. Jodi was a passionate supporter of our radio station through her position at Northridge. She had a love of music, and loved to have a great time! A really fun energetic person to be around. Jodi also became a good friend to Crissy and myself aside from the radio station. We will all miss her.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I remember meeting Jody for the first time at Carmel Middle and doing cheerleading together. She had such energy and enthusiasm! And although its been a few years since I've bumped into her, she will truly be missed.

My sincere condolences go out to you Jeff, Shay and your family. I am in disbelief. Jody grew up to be such a beautiful woman. I only remember her as a little girl when I took care of her and Michael for you both. I will be thinking of you all. May God be with you always,

P.S. I worked at Sambo's with you Jeff. I am Roy Genegabus's ex wife but best friend.

My condolences to Jeff, Shay and Mike. I had the pleasure of reaquainting professionally with Jodi since our time together at Carmel High. Jodi was so helpful with the Salinas Jaycees Children's Shopping Tour at Northridge Mall--and even took children out shopping herself when we were short-handed with volunteers. She and I compared notes when buying media for our respective companies and often collaborated together on media projects. I will truly miss her.
