I knew Joe 12 years and used to see him at Chukchansi resort & casino. I would be playing roulette and he would come over to the table and talk to me. Sorry to hear he has passed. I had been trying to call him for the past month and had a feeling something was wrong. Sending condolences and prayers to the family. Joe will be missed.

Joseph was a great guy. The twins were among the first people I met when I was assigned to their mother's class at Monte Vista Elementary. Joe was always the serious one of the bunch:) Funny, I did not see him for years, until I was visiting family on the Peninsula in February and we reconnected while walking past his house. I adored his mom; she was a great teacher! Through Joe I met his uncle Leon early in his political career, and later in life, my connection to Joe and John allowed me to interview Leon when he was Chief of Staff in the WH.... One of the very rare news interviews Leon gave in those days. Julie, we never met, but I am sorry for your loss. Man, the stories I could tell about growing up with Joe and John... and teasing their mother in class! I made the mistake of sitting between the twins for awhile when we were all students in their mother's class. (Hint: when the stuff hit the fan, it was always better to sit closer to Joe than John.... lol! Mrs. Panetta: no slack given...:) Joanna, I am sorry I never met you. Your family made a big impression on me. Best wishes to all of you.

Joe Panetta was one of the nicest human beings I´ve had the pleasure of knowing. Met him as a fellow student at MPC, when my sister worked as a volunteer for his Uncle Leon´s campaign. As a MPD officer I would see him frequently. Monterey and the world has lost a truly decent man.
