Kenneth Rose Obituary
October 27, 1958 ~ August 12, 2009
MARINA, CA - Kenneth, age 50, was born and raised in Marina. He attended Seaside High School. Ken was a friend that you wish you had and a man you'll never forget. During his life he became a master mechanic, working at All Automotive in Seaside, CA with David Carter, Latham Motors in Twin Falls, ID with David Easter and Dan Judy's in Salem, OR with Dan, Phone John, John, Rory and Sherm. While working at Dan Judy's, Ken applied for a position in Iraq. Shortly thereafter he was accepted as a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked in several areas from Iraq to Afghanistan. He left one man and came back a completely different person, with a new outlook on life and perspective on the war in Iraq/Afghanistan. He was nicknamed by the soldiers, "The All American Badass." Unfortunately, Ken was in a convoy that was hit by an IED. We have been told that Ken felt no pain during this time, which is something that we thank God for daily.
He is survived by his spouse, Donna Tully Rose; children, Drew Rose, Shawn Tully and Victoria Rose; parents, Alvin and Sherlyn Rose; sisters, Dianne Deleon and Nancy Hohn; six grandsons; one granddaughter and former wife, Diane Rose.
Celebration of Life Services will be held from 12 noon until 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the VFW in Marina. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem.

I miss you Dad. Life is not the same without you l. Sometimes I see people that look like you. I have to remind myself that your gone and it's just my brain playing tricks on me. Dad, I miss you and everyone so much all the time. It doesn't seem to get any easier. We went to the monster trucks last weekend, had a blast and I started crying like a little baby when they played the song for the service person's. I thought of you the whole time. I boo'd at Grave Digger a lot. Thought of you when I was doing it too. Kenny was glued to those trucks like white on rice. Well you keep Auntie Doris Uncle Jt Grandma Houser Grandpa Houser and your Dad company up there. I've got your flag and that ugly darn car picture here. I wish that I could just feel you give me one more hug. I love you and I miss you.

I knew Kenneth from being his processor at LSI when he first applied to work overseas. He was very nice to work with and very patient with the lengthy process that initially took to get him there. My deepest condolances go out to his family!!

I first met Ken in Jan.07 when I went to Camp Falcon,Iraq.He became my friend(and my mentor) the next day.He was always there to help me (anything from work to my tattooing)Ken and I out lasted everyone that was there,when he left to go to camp Liberty;I followed.The Army loved ken and he loved them. Ken,we will meet again in Heaven.

This hss been as hard on friends as any family with Ken's lost, He made everyone part of his family. Over the years he was looking for his part in life and think he found it in helping others. He changed so much in the last few years, and became the man he wanted to be. In that he made us all proud, and happy we put up with how crazy he could be. We all ended up loving him for himself. I think of you and all of the exciting things that you did in life, and of those things that I got to experience with you, I can say for sure that they will never be the same. I remember when you did the demolition derby here in Oregon and I insisted on entering the next year. I know now why you did it. And the skydiving trip that we took together was awesome. Everything that you told me and taught me I will carry along. Whether or not I thought it was important at that time I know that it is important now. I will eventually take Kenny out and go 4X4 ing, to a demolition derby, maybe even skydiving in my forty's like you did. I could not ask for a more adventurous, fun loving dad. I want to thank all his and our friends for wonderful memories with him,He visited us and stayed a week before going back. I finally got to talk to him alone and told him how proud I was of him. Uncle Kenny was truly a hero in mine and my families eyes he did things in his life that none of us had the courage to do, he knew what was going on in this world and did right by saving one life at a time he may of been a civilain over in afghansitan but he protected our hero's so thats what makes him my hero.
