Laurie Shaffi Obituary

Wing Commander Laurie Shaffi, O.B.E., Barrister at law August 15, 1912 ~ February 6, 2005 MONTEREY - Laurie Shaffi, age 92, died February 6, 2005. He was born in London, educated at St. Paul's; Kings College, Cambridge and Lincoln's Inn, London. He captained the Davis Cup Team for England (1938); served in the R.A.F. throughout World War II, in varied capacities, latterly as Adjutant to Field Marshall Sir Claude Auchenleck and was awarded an O.B.E. He entered the diplomatic service and in the United States served as Consul General and Minister in New York and in San Francisco. Residing in Monterey for many years, he and his wife, E. Frances Shaffi, traveled widely, pursuing their interests in art and antiques and music. Remember him with Happy Thoughts. No flowers. No services.
