Ruth Bauman Wlodarczyk was born in 1938 in Sarne, Poland. Having survived the Holocaust as a young child and spending two years in a displaced person camp in post war Germany, she arrived with her mother and new father in New York City in 1946, via Ellis Island. As a child, she acclimated to life in America. Ruth always had a passion for art, studying at New York School of Music and Art, Cooper Union and Southern Illinois University, eventually earning a Master's of Fine Art degree. In addition, in her second half, she discovered her compassion for helping people and earned a Master's degree in Gerontology and Social work from Roosevelt University in Chicago. She had a lengthy career working in various social service capacities. In the early 1990's, she and her husband moved from Chicago, Illinois to California to be closer to family.
When not riding her horse, spending time with family, or standing at her easel paintbrush and pallet in hand, you would find Ruth deeply enmeshed in the writings of many poets, philosophers and physicists. She had a thirst for knowing. One of her favorite quotes…"Wherever you go, there you are". Wherever she went, she was there. While her life started with much chaos and tragedy, she rose above it and filled her world.
Ruth leaves behind the many loves in her life: her husband, Robert; her daughters, Vainca (David) and Viveca {Jim); her grandchildren Zack, Max and Noa; her faithful horse companion, Harley, and her little canine companion, Junie.
