Carrie Watkins Obituary
Montgomery - Mrs. Carrie B. Ponder Watkins a resident of Montgomery, AL expired June 20, 2018. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from Freewill Missionary Baptist Church, 1724 Hill Street, with Rev. Edward J. Nettles, Pastor and Rev. Antonio Forbes, officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband, Jimmy Lee Watkins Sr., two sons, Anthony Watkins and Jimmy (Christy) Watkins Jr., Hopkinsville, KY; one daughter, Renia Jordan, a son she loved as her own, Eric (Rhonda) Ponder, San Antonio, TX ; sisters, Savannah Harris, Essie Ponder, Rachel Morgan, Ida Dillard all of Montgomery, AL; brothers, Jerry Lee (Debra Ann) Ponder, Jr., Leroy (Karen) Ponder, Carey (Barbara) Ponder, Gregory (Margaurita) Ponder, Eddie Stevenson, Montgomery, AL; brothers-in-law, Aaron Watkins, Willie Smith, Montgomery, AL; sister-in-law, Corine Watkins, Montgomery, AL; aunts, Hattie Reese, Ida Reese, Anderson, Indiana, Mamie Reese, Pontiac, MI; Fannie Pettus, Janie Brown, Louvenia Jackson and Bertha Ponder, Montgomery, AL; uncle, Fred Reese, Anderson, Indiana; grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Anthony Stovall, Delia Hasberry, Allen Hasberry, Willie Green, Latoya Kenner, and Necho Webster, Montgomery, AL; Avery O'Haran, Ashlyn Leigh and Asher Lee Watkins of Hopkinsville, KY: goddaughter, Cynthia Mitchell, a devoted neighbor, Demetris Hall a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Special thanks are extended to her brother Jerry Lee Ponder Jr., for his dedication and devotion. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral services.

I am praying for the family and friends. I worked with Carrie at Jackson Hospital. She was always supportive to others. Carrie was a delight and she loved her family. If you knew Carrie you knew the family.

I worked with Carrie at Jackson's for years. Patients would request Carrie , for no one could care for you better or be more caring. I never saw her show anything but a loving and caring soul. Her humor, her love will be greatly missed. A life well lived.
