Peter Dimaggio Obituary
Mr. Dimaggio the son of Italian immigrants. He was formally of Montgomery, Alabama where he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery. He was a resident of Freeport, Florida in the Hammock Bay community since 2010 and a member of the Niceville United Methodist Church where he served in the Orchestra, Choir, and the Stephen Ministry. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era serving his country in the United States Air Force before retiring. He was also in the Air Commando A-26 Unit. He was the recipient of various medals, including the Silver Star. He was active in the Lion's Club, Kiwanis Club, Air Commando Association, and VFW.
Mr. Dimaggio was preceded in death by his parents, one brother David Dimaggio, two sons Peter Samuel Dimaggio, Jr., and Lanier Archie Dimaggio.
Mr. Dimaggio is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Gwen Lanier Dimaggio, children Valerie Shonts and husband Eric of Lake Onion, MI, Bethel Ziesenitz and husband Glenn of Atlanta, GA, and Peter (Trint) Dimaggio III and wife Harmony of Austin, AR, and 8 loving grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held 9:00~10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Niceville United Methodist Church; 214 Partin Drive South, Niceville, Florida 32578.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Niceville United Methodist Church; 214 Partin Drive South, Niceville, Florida 32578 with Dr. Herstel Carter and Reverend Chuck Ashley officiating.
Graveside Services will be held 3:00 PM at Rocky Mount Cemetery in Highland Home, Alabama with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Ziesenitz, Eric Shonts, Tim Chick, Evan Shonts, Parker Shonts, along with honorary pallbearers Samuel Ziesenitz, William Ziesenitz, and Christian Shonts.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Rocky Mount Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 222, Freeport, Florida 32439.

Gwen and family, I send my most heart-felt condolences. How I wish we'd kept in touch over these past 40+ years and our days at Choctawhatchee High but now is not too late. We have fond memories of you two and one funny incident comes to mind--Pete, Chad, and Chad Jr were having lunch at Lums. Little Chad put his ABC gum on the edge of his plate and Pete thought it was left over food and put it in his mouth. Also, I had no idea you'd lost a 2nd son. I would love your email address to get in touch with you.
Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this most difficult period for Pete's home-going must leave a huge void in your heart.
