NESBITT, SR. Mr. Robert D., a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama, departed this life on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church of which he was a lifelong member and the Senior Deacon. Rev. Michael F. Thurman will conduct the eulogy. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. E. G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. Directing. He was preceded in death by a devoted wife of 68 years, Rebecca Cummings Nesbitt. After more than 40 years of service, he retired from the Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company. Mr. Nesbitt was actively involved in many civic and social clubs, the board of Director of the local Y.M.C.A., the United Supreme Council of the Masons (Deputy for the State of Alabama), Grand Secretary for Grand Lodge of Alabama, the Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority (Treasurer), and the Montgomery Lions Club (past president). He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Moore-Smiley; his son, Robert D. (Barbara) Nesbitt, Jr., both of Montgomery, AL; six grandchildren, Angilesa (Alex) Kennedy, Jr., James Moore of Montgomery, Karen (Steve Foxwell) of Tallahassee, FL, Robert, III, Michael and Neil Nesbitt of Montgomery; 14 great-grandchildren, Alton, Adrian, Corey, Jalon, Angel, Blessin, Kaydan, Miracle, Lovelace, Tyla, Jaylen, Kaylen, Daniel and David; three great-great-grandchildren, Milan, Kentre' and Jacory; two nephews, Dr. George (Rose) Busby of Nashville, TN and Dr. John Stevens, Culver City, CA; one niece, Sandra Kaye (Dr. Jefferson) Underwood of Montgomery and numerous other relatives and friends. Family hour and Masonic Rites will be held Friday, April 26, 2002 at the E.G. Cummings Memorial Chapel, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
