Thomas Cargile Obituary
Mr. Thomas Anthony "Tommy" Cargile, Sr., 71, of Prattville, AL passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 in Jackson Hospital.
Mr. Cargile is survived by his sons, Thomas "Tony" A. Cargile, Jr. & (DeeDee) and Marshall Brent Cargile; daughter, Marie Arlette Cargile Flynn; brother, Shelby M. Cargile; sister, Deborah C. Davis; grandchildren, Michael, Joshua & Allen Probert, Coleman, Jackson, Shelby, Chloe & Carlee Cargile, and Davey Flynn; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby Mastin Cargile, Sr. & Dixie Roberta Taylor Cargile.
Tommy was a 1967 graduate of the John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN leading him to accumulate 50 years of service in the funeral industry in Alabama. Being civically involved he has overseen police & fire depts., member of the Prattville City Council, member of the Tri-County Mental Health Assoc., President of the Alabama Funeral Directors Association, member of the Alabama Board of Funeral Service, and President of the John A. Gupton Alumni Association.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from the First United Methodist Church of Prattville with burial following in Prattville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Rev. Drew Willis will be officiating with Wyatt Funeral Home of Opp, Al directing.
The family requests the omission of flowers and memorials be made to the AFDA Scholarship Fund (PMB 380, 7956 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36116), or the charity of one's choice.

My Friend Tommy!
When he was on City Council I have many fond memories of us chasing police cars,firetrucks in middle of night since he was the Chairman of that committee. He would add Humor to stressful situations;also would go see him at the Funeral Home just to sit down & talk about Life. Some stories he did tell me. You will be missed!
