Warren Bickerstaff Obituary

Mr. Warren H. Bickerstaff, Jr., 90, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015. A native of Union Springs, he was preceded in death by his parents, Warren H. and Maude Bickerstaff; wife, Louise Crumpton Bickerstaff and his longtime beloved companion, Carolyn Thrasher. He is survived by his sister, Susan Steele; nieces, Susan Hoefer (Jim) and nephew, Andrew Steele, all of Dallas, TX.

A graduate of Union Springs High School, Warren attended the University of Alabama and graduated from the Professional Military Comptroller School. He served in the military during WWII and the Korean Conflict. A lifelong federal civil servant, Warren retired as the Director of Budget, Office of the Comptroller, Headquarters Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base in 1987.

Warren was a member of the Frazer United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years and was a dedicated member of the Montgomery Lions Club where he held many leadership positions.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Union Springs, AL Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Rhon Carleton presiding, Gray Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Tommy Fitzpatrick, Bobby Ford, Curt Ford, Jim Hoefer, Drew Steele and Jody Thrasher. Honorary pallbearers are his Hardee's breakfast buddies: Bobby, Gary, Ernie, Donnie, Delbert and Joe.

Special thanks are extended to Tammy Grant, Patsy McGough, Jessie York and the staff at Waterford Assisted Living and Answered Prayers Home Care.
