Daniel T. Garrett Sr.

1926 - 2015

Daniel T. Garrett Sr. of Gwynedd Daniel T. Garrett, Sr., 88, of Gwynedd passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Foulkeways at Gwynedd. He was the husband of 56 years to the late Edythe C. Garrett, who passed on October 17, 2012. Born April 30, 1926, in Elkins Park, Daniel was a son of the late Sylvester and Mary (Thompson) Garrett. He graduated from Cheltenham High School then attended Penn State University, and graduated from Wharton School of the U of PA in 1949. Later he earned an MBA in statistics at Temple University and a CPCU designation in 1961. Daniel was a lifelong Quaker and a birthright member of Abington Friends Meeting. He worked for 27 years at Employers Insurance of Wausau, then at the E.C.B.M. Insurance Agency in Bala Cynwyd for 20 years, retiring in 1996. Daniel leaves behind three children, Daniel T. Garrett, Jr. and his wife, Marybeth, of Collegeville; Jennifer A. Garrett and her husband, Anthony Orefice, of North Wales; Patricia G. Jurgensen and her husband, Mark, of Harleysville; and seven grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Daniel is preceded in death by siblings, Sylvester, William, Helen, and Agnes. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Daniel’s Memorial Service, 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, Gwynedd Friends Meeting, 1101 DeKalb Pike, North Wales, PA. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Daniel’s name to the American Friends Service Committee, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, PA 19102. Arrangements are by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
