It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christy Young, who left this world peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 52. Christy was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, known for her unwavering strength, deep faith, and boundless love for those around her.
Christy is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Young; and their three sons: Patrick Young, Alec Young, and Kyle Vanbrunschot. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to shine through her children, who were the light of her life.
She was the daughter of Bruce and Roni Grigsby and leaves behind her siblings, Shannon and (Patrick) Cordova and Patrick Grigsby and (Anthony Pilny), with whom she shared a bond that transcended time and distance. Her sister and brother-in-law, Keely and Robert Svacha, and father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Suzie Young, were all an important part of her life, offering support and laughter in all their years together. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, Abby, Jamie, and Ashley, who brought immense joy to her heart.
Christy was a woman of deep faith, guided by her strong belief in God. Her faith was a source of strength for her, and she approached every challenge in life with grace, never wavering from her trust in God.
One of her defining qualities was her love for animals. She found great comfort in caring for them and cherishing their companionship. Christy was also an avid adventurer, particularly enjoying the beauty and serenity of the San Juan Mountains. Hiking among the peaks and trails brought her a sense of peace, and she reveled in the adventures that nature provided.
Christy's life was a vivid tapestry of adventure, laughter, and boundless energy-there was truly never a dull moment when she was around. Whether on the pickleball court, hitting the links for a round of golf, exploring new hiking trails, camping under the stars, or biking through rugged mountain trails, Christy approached each day with a sense of enthusiasm that was infectious to those around her.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Christy was a passionate runner and completed numerous half-marathons such as Imogene and Kendall Mountain. Despite the obstacles, she never gave up and always pushed herself further, inspiring all who knew her with her perseverance and determination.
Christy's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and tenacity. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Celebration of Christy's life was held on Thursday, February 27th at 10 a.m. at Grace Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local non-profit of their choosing in her honor.
