Faye Jacquelyn Lewis
August 5, 1944 - January 10, 2021
Jackie Lewis, a true southern belle with a huge heart, a caring spirit, and a great sense of humor, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021. She will be missed the most by her devoted husband, Duane Lewis, and her two loving children, Cami and David Lewis.
Born in Henderson, to Ralph Farrell Sikes and Helen Maxine Bobbitt Sikes, Jackie grew up in the Burnsville area of Anson County, graduated from Anson Senior High School in 1962, and attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, from 1962 to 1965.
She met her husband on a blind date in 1963, and married him four years later, at which point they moved to Greensburg, Pa., for a short time. The couple eventually settled on Lake Norman in Mooresville, where they raised their two children.
Jackie worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years, first at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, then at Total Care Home Health in Salisbury, and later at the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She took a break from nursing from 1998 to 2008 to work as a real estate broker in Mooresville.
Once their children were grown, Jackie and Duane moved to Sunset Beach. There, she joined the Seaside Methodist Church, enjoyed painting, walks on the beach, and hosting AirBnB guests.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2020, she and Duane returned to Lake Norman to live in Davidson.
Her fondest memories were of the ski trips she and the family enjoyed over the years.
In addition to her husband, Duane Lewis, and her two children, David Lewis (Kristin) and Cami Lewis (Tim Beaver), she leaves behind five grandchildren, Lane Lewis, Caden Beaver, Carson Beaver, Allison Vecchio and Nickolas Ross; four siblings, Joye Baucom (Don), Judy Sikes, Ralph Sikes Jr. (Melissa) and Ricky Sikes; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Novant Health Hospice for the excellent care, support, and service they provided during her final days.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Novant Health Hospice, 324 North McDowell St., Charlotte, North Carolina 28204.
