Ralph Morrison Brawley III

September 24, 1939 - July 10, 2021

Ralph Morrison Brawley III, 81, of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021.

He was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Mooresville, to the late Nellie Brawley Wrenn and the late Ralph Brawley Jr.

Mr. Brawley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Ralph loved to go to the beach and his house in Southport. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His real passion, however, was in shaping metal. He owned Coach Craft, Inc., for over 30 years where he restored rare and classic cars, specializing in Porsches. He was very instrumental in the design of several safety features of NASCAR. His hands and his mind were genius beyond description when dealing with automobiles and metal.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Melissa Craven Brawley.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Combs Brawley; children, Ralph Morrison "Morrie" Brawley IV, and Bess Broyhill (Rob); stepchildren, Endia Plunkett (Andrew) and Zack Mitchell; grandchildren, Clayton Morrison Broyhill and Melissa Grace Broyhill; stepgrandchilren, Andreas Plunkett and Navarro Plunkett; sister, Sherry Alexander (Donnie); niece, Leslie Peters (Cory) and children, Cade and Remy Kate Peters; nephew, Benjy Alexander; and very special friend, Bobby Connor.

A visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, July 13, in the Heritage House at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

Although I never got to meet him, I heard so many great and aspiring stories of Mr. Brawley. As a man who of God, his family knows God also. His prayers and tales of lifes greatness will be truly missed. May God bless Mr. Brawley´s family and friends with strength and unity.

I could say a lot of things about our time together and the great things we "accomplished" in this world, but the most important thing to remember is that he was a man of God that loved his family and friends. What more needs to be said?
