Robert McDade Obituary

Robert McDade Robert Edward Mc-Dade, 68, of Sherrills Ford, passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born on Nov. 27, 1942 in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late Joseph Edward and Phyllis Swank McDade. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Erie Crate in Orlando, Fla. and from Walgreens Home Health-care Division in Daytona Beach. He also volunteered at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Mr. McDade is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Mirkinson McDade; children, Abbie McDade of Troutman, Marsha Coleman of She-rrills Ford, Randy Smith of Destin, Fla.; sister, Ann McDade and husband, Mark Reno, of Miami, Fla.; niece, Michelle Quirk of Miami, Fla.; and cousins, Jim Bigger, Alice Ruth Swank and John Swank, all of Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27 at the Cav-in-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of his daughter, Abbie McDade in Troutman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Iredell County, 110 Robinson Road, Mooresville, NC 28117. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the McDade family. Bob and I were fraternity brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha at Stetson University. I had no idea we were even living in the same state. My sympathy and prayers go out to his wife and family. Many good memories of our college years together.
