With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thea Elizabeth Ward Robichaux, age 52, of Madisonville, Louisiana on October 2, 2025, while surrounded by family and friends.
Thea was born on September 10, 1973, in Charlotte, North Carolina to Carolyn Campbell Ward and Robert Elton Ward, Jr. She was the cherished sister of Taeh Allison Ward, and sister-in-law Lori Perdomo Dawson (husband Alex). Thea was the beloved wife and soulmate of Ivy Charles Robichaux III, who stood by her side with unwavering love and support during her brief final journey. Thea was the devoted and incredibly hardworking mother of their two children, Zyler Ward Robichaux and Ivy Charles Robichaux IV. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and copious friends.
Thea grew up in Charlotte and Mooresville, NC, where she was an avid reader, youth group member, strong student, cheerleader, and friend to all. Even as a teenager, Thea had a love of engineering such that she learned AutoCAD and focused her science projects on structural engineering. After graduating from Mooresville Senior High School, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering at North Carolina State University, where she was one of the only women in her program. Thea enjoyed a career as an engineer working on projects throughout the world, most recently as lead engineer in cranes and rigging. She was also a mentor to other young women who admired her intelligence, strength, and commitment to simply being excellent in everything she did.
Outside of work, Thea took great pride in her home, family, friends, and entertaining. She loved animals including her cherished pets. She enjoyed living with her husband and children on Lake Norman, NC before moving to Louisiana where they celebrated festivals and many other happy events. She truly delighted in her children and their baseball and dance practice, games, tournaments, competitions, and recitals. Thea loved reading cookbooks, not just for the recipes, but for the stories and traditions they held. She was also an amazing cook and host, revered by all for her special dishes and generosity, and never hesitated to share her recipes or open her door to a friend. Those who knew Thea best understand her deep affection for Disney, a reflection of her own spirit of fun, kindness, and creativity.
Though her time with us was far too brief, Thea left an indelible impression on everyone she met throughout her life. She will be deeply missed, remembered, and loved forever.
Relatives and friends in Louisiana attended a celebration of Thea's life on October 4, 2025 in Covington, LA.
