Wayne Holman MOORESVILLE Wayne Benjamin Holman, 72, of Mooresville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Gordon Hospice House, Statesville. Wayne was born April 25, 1940, in Claremont, to the late Albert Charles Holman and Ivy Belle Minges Holman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Charles Holman Jr. and James Holman; and sisters, Roberta Messick and Elaine Holman. Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 and a half years, Carolyn McNeely Holman. Other surviving family members include sisters, Margaret Harris and husband, John and Elizabeth White, both of Hickory; brother-in-law, Allen R. Messick and wife, Barbara, of Statesville; six nephews; and three nieces. Wayne was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School in Statesville and of Kings Business College in Charlotte. After a long career in sales, he retired in 2004 from Gordon Furniture Company in Statesville. Wayne was a faithful and lifelong affiliate of the Lutheran church. In the churches where Wayne held membership, he supported and enhanced the ministries of the church as youth advisor, choir member, teacher and a member of the church councils. A memorial service celebrating Wayne's life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m., at Concordia Lutheran Church in China Grove, with the Rev. Ken Reed and the Rev. Dr. Larry Bost officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., in the Family Life Center. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.
