Julia Schuchs Obituary

Julia passed away at St Gabriel's of Athens on 9 August 2022 after a heroic fight to live with Parkinson Disease.

Julia was loving wife, mother and grandmother. A native of Monroe, Louisiana, she embraced her life in new hometown of Madison, Georgia where she served as a middle school teacher for over thirty years. She enjoyed traveling and adventure if there was a grandchild involved; whether it was hiking in a rainforest in the Republic of Panama, pushing a stroller across the Brooklyn Bridge or sitting at a ball field or recital. Otherwise, she loved being home with her family, reading and making lists of projects for her husband to accomplish.

She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and Georgia College; ultimately earning her Bachelors, Masters and Specialist degrees in Education. She was a member of the St James Catholic Church in Madison and an avid volunteer with its St Vincent De Paul Society.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Marcus Schuchs, Jr. of Madison, Georgia; her sister Louise Bryson (Glenn) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her children Elizabeth Schuchs-Gopaul of San Antonio, Texas, and Marc Schuchs III (BJ) of Rutledge, Georgia; and her grandchildren Annabelle "Charlie" Gopaul, Adalyn Schuchs, Evan Gopaul, Hudson Schuchs, Grayson Schuchs and Everly Schuchs and her nephews, Joe Bryson and Glenn Bryson and niece Julie Blackstone.

Julie's life will be remembered at a 10:00 am Mass on Saturday, 20 August 2022 at St James Catholic Church in Madison followed by a reception in the hall. She will be buried at in a private ceremony at Honey Creek Woodlands at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St Vincent De Paul Society at 562 Vine St. Madison Georgia 30650; a charity that helps local residents in their time of need regardless of faith.
