Mike Marcum Obituary
Mike was never without a good story of past experiences and was always a joy to be around. He spoke of fond memories of his parents and his childhood in Scott County. Mike loved his family as well as his country. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. However, Mike was more proud to be a servant of the Lord. He was a devoted member of the Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. Mike is going to be dearly missed by his friends and family, but he would not want us to grieve. He has said goodbye to this world. He would tell us he has received a Promotion to Glory, and he will be waiting for us.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Violet Marcum; and first wife, Deanna Sue Sexton Marcum.
He is survived by his wife, Trudi Walker Marcum; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Jessie Marcum; daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Trevor Chitwood all of Oneida; five grandchildren, Trisa and Tyler Chitwood, Madison and Skylar Marcum and Jase Gooding; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Lula Mae Marcum, Keith and Ann Marcum all of Oneida and Gene and Ginger Marcum of Maryville; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Arnold Burke also of Oneida; two step-daughters, Jessika Gooding and Morgan Dyer; mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Curt and Geneeda Sexton and J.R. and Gina Parks; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Karen Boyatt, Tip and Donnie Sexton, Sharon and Josh Thorne and Tracie and Danny Farmer; special caregivers, Stacy Marlow, Brandy Marcum, Lakey Terry and Larry Marcum; as well as his church family and many other friends and loved ones.
The family received friends Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pilot Mt. Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Webb and Bro. Kevin Sexton officiating. Interment followed in the Morris-Goodman Cemetery, Oneida.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mike's Vietnam Veterans Support Group: J.D. Roark, Marle Barrett, James Freeman, George Adams, Johnny Slusher, Larry Taylor, Eastill Smith, Kenneth Isom, Robert Alsap and Eddie Warfield.
