Billie Walker-Gray Obituary

Billie Gray VALDESE Billie Jean Walker-Gray, 77, of Alexandria, Va., and formerly of Hickory, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at the Joseph Ritchie Hospice House in Baltimore, Md., following a period of declining health. Billie was born Nov. 26, 1934 in Burke County to the late Lester Carl Walker, Sr. and Flora Martin Walker. She was retired from the U.S. Federal Government as a senior executive secretary, working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Supreme Court, and The White House. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Lester Carl Walker, Jr. Survivors include her nieces and her cousins. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Wilkie's Grove Baptist Church, officiating will be the Rev. Marvin Wiley. The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. An online guestbook and obituary is available at heritagefuneral services.com.
