Jan Beam Obituary

Jan Beam MORGANTON Jan Elizabeth Suddath Beam, 44, of Morganton, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Grace Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1967, in Burke County, she was the daughter of Sybil Stephens Burnette and her husband, Kenneth, of Union Mills, and the late Robert Jan Suddath. She worked for many years as a registered nurse in Morganton and Manassas, Va. Jan was a HAM radio operator, and a great cook. She enjoyed riding with her husband on motorcycle trips, and she loved animals. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Robert "Robbie" Beam, of the home; a daughter, Mary-Grace Elizabeth Beam, of the home; a step-daugh-ter, Samantha Lynn Beam, of Morganton; her step-sisters, Angela Bur-nette Smith and her husband, Kenny, of Drexel, and Laura Burnette Johnson and her husband, Thad, of Mor-ganton; and an uncle, Sanford Stephens, Jr. of Morganton. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Revs. Stacey Layne and Jerry Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Her ashes will be buried at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 2239 NC 181, Morganton, NC 28655; Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2505 Burke Memorial Park Road, Morganton, NC 28655; or to Mount Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mount Home Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
