Jeffery Sweeney Obituary
January 19, 1977 - January 23, 2022
Jeffery Dale Sweeney, 45, of Morganton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at UNC Hospital-Chapel Hill, following a brief illness.
Jeffery was born Jan. 19, 1977, in Beckley, W.Va., to Michael Sweeney Sr. and Lydia Dutton Sweeney. He was currently employed at Focus Behavioral Health, as a trainer. Jeffery enjoyed acquiring classic toys and collectibles, liked to go hiking and travel, and loved being outdoors.
Jeffery was preceded in death his grandparents, Grady and Edith Sweeney, and Frank and Mary Dutton; and by his nephew and best friend, Wesley Sweeney.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are his fiancée, Casey Morgan of the home; his children, Trajen Sweeney and Willow Sweeney both of Morganton; stepdaughter, Serenity Johnson of Morganton; foster children, Samantha Muir of Virginia, and Danielle Hatton of Georgia; the mother of his children, Cindi Greene Sweeney; sister, Colleen Sweeney Rathbone; brother, Michael Sweeney Jr.; two fur babies, Harley and Rayna Morgan; his cat, Gandalf; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at 5 p.m., in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with the Rev. Timothy Mitchem officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Jeff and Casey were my trainers at Focus Behavioral Health Services. He was kind, spirited, humorous and the realest guy I have ever met professionally. I was saddened to hear of his passing and more sad that I had to work and not be at his service to share my respects. He was a great man. May his soul love on in the people that loved and were touched by his presence. I sure was! Bless you all. Esp. CASEY

Mike and Lydia, I have just now read of Jeff´s passing. Oh how sorry I am and I pray God will comfort you. Jeff was such a joy and a blessing to me. He was such a polite person and he portrait to be so kind and loving. Not one time did I ever hear him have any harsh word to say. The two of you should be very proud of such a well balanced man that loved the Lord. You taught him well. I loved him dearly
